Youth Work

Helping young people feel safe, supported and able to be themselves

Creating Spaces Where Young People Thrive

Every young person deserves a place where they feel safe, welcome and accepted. At Cheviot Youth we provide that space — through drop-ins, small groups and one-to-one youth support. Our approach is gentle, inclusive and built on real relationships, so families know their children are supported, not judged.

We work alongside schools, health and social care — filling the gaps and offering earlier, easier access to support. Where specialist help is needed, we signpost and collaborate. Everything we do is trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and strengths-based. And importantly, our programmes aren’t just for young people — they are shaped with young people, who help design and influence what we do.

Why This Work Matters

Young people across our region are facing more pressures than ever — from exam stress and family changes to the challenges of growing up online. Not all of this requires specialist or statutory intervention. Often, what makes the difference is having a safe place to go, trusted adults who listen, and the chance to belong.

That’s where Cheviot Youth comes in. Our hubs, groups and one-to-one support create the kind of everyday safety net that families and schools can lean on. We don’t replace statutory services — we complement them, filling the gaps and offering earlier, easier access to help.

"It gave me friends, confidence, and people who believe in me."

  • Belonging: Creating safe spaces where every young person feels accepted.

  • Empowering: Helping young people grow in confidence and shape their own path.

  • Complementary: Filling gaps alongside schools, families and services, not replacing them.

Young people don’t just attend our programmes — they co-design them.

"It’s the first time I’ve felt like I wasn’t being ‘done to’ – I was listened to, and I helped make it better for others"
